Announcement of Opportunities: MLOC is hiring an ‘A’ team

 

In April of 2019, Minneapolis will host the culminating event of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament, the iconic Final Four.

 

To prepare for one of the most famous annual sporting events in the United States, the Minneapolis Local Organizing Committee is ready to put its own winning team in place, beginning in January of 2017. Our #1 goal is to deliver the events of the Minneapolis Final Four with excellence. We aim to give athletes, fans and the local community a seamless positive experience, whether at the games or the many free and low cost events that invite the whole community in.

 

We also envision a Final Four weekend that celebrates the unique attributes of this dynamic region and its people. We’ll amplify benefits to the region by demonstrating commitment to youth and inclusion, where we have the opportunity to make a real difference by engaging an increasingly diverse community.

 

To achieve these goals, we are seeking highly skilled candidates with exceptional drive to be part of our small, high performing team. The MLOC works in a dynamic environment, in conjunction with top leaders from the NCAA, government and the business sector.  These full time positions, with competitive salaries, will last through the event period in 2019, and provide career-making or career-topping experiences of a lifetime.

Director of Event Operations

 

The Director of Event Operations plans, leads and manages event production, operations and logistics to ensure the effective operations of a range of events related to the 2019 Final Four. Deep in the details of ‘How’, this seasoned operations person coordinates across many functions and stakeholder groups. Whether or not for a mega-sports event, your resume should demonstrate that you have successfully addressed an enormous number of issues to activate plans and preparedness in events of a similar magnitude. 

 

Director of External Operations

 

The Director of External Operations is an integrated marketing and complex event specialist, who develops and executes the MLOC’s overall communications, outreach and experience fulfillment strategy for all events and related programs. This is an ‘architect of awesome’, who blends Marketing, Communications and PR skills with boots on the ground Event Planning to build event awareness, excitement and engagement in the host region and beyond. In addition to robust experience in analogous high stakes campaigns, a demonstrated commitment to community impact goals will be critical in this role.

 

Office and Project Manager

 

The ultimate utility player, the Office and Project Manager draws on honed administrative and small office/project management skills to set the foundation for team success by maintaining an efficient, welcoming and highly functional office environment. This detail-oriented, intuitive multi-tasker manages myriad functions, including; office equipment and materials, phone system, information systems, team scheduling, tracking of information, mail and package shipping and receiving, preparation of presentations in varied applications, team travel and guest hospitality. Additionally, he/she brings genuine care, a mentoring touch and cultural competency to the management of project interns. This clutch player will demonstrate honed executive-level Administrative and Project Management skills, and possess the added traits of positive energy, service mentality, and a commitment to diligence, thoroughness and excellence.
